LiveSmart BC Program: Now Extended:
On April 11, 2013 provincial government in partnership with BC Hydro and FortisBC, announced the extension of the popular LiveSmart BC: Efficiency Incentive Program.
The LiveSmart BC program has now been extended for one year, until March 31, 2014. With over 100,000 BC homeowners helped to improve the energy efficiency of their homes since 2008, this program has demonstrated its value for British Columbians.
Effective April 1, the program will provide up to $3,500 in rebates for energy saving improvements, including up to:
· $1,200 for exterior wall insulation,
· $1,000 for basement insulation,
· $600 to install attic insulation, and
· $4,000 for air sealing and draft proofing
To access theses rebates, homeowners must first hire a certified energy advisor to conduct an energy efficiency assessment before and after making any eligible improvements. This must be completed by December 31, 2013. The energy advisor provides a customized report showing the home’s energy efficiency (EnerGuide) rating and upgrade options.
Homeowners then have until March 31, 2014 to make any eligible improvements and to complete the post-retrofit assessment.
BCREA encourages REALTORS to inform their clients of the incentives of participating in this program. For more information, visit www.livesmartbc.ca.
